Actor- director Shekhar Suman’s son, talks about how he bagged the role of Zoravar, though he did not get through the auditions.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is all geared up for ‘Heeramandi:The Diamond Bazaar’, that will be released on the 1st May, on Netflix. With a stellar cast of Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and others, this period drama has us all, waiting.

The series stars the father son duo, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman. The former plays the part of Zulfikar and the son plays Zoravar. Adhyayan talks in detail of how he bagged the role inspite of failing the audition.

Going back, he says, he was travelling in the Himalayas and got a call, “At one o’clock in the afternoon, I was told that Mr. Bhansali would be seeing my audition at three. Somehow, I managed to stop the car in the middle of the mountains and make an audition clip sitting in the car.”

He elaborates, “I begged, borrowed and stole some network from people and sent the tape. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the role. To be honest, if I had auditioned and not gotten the part in any filmmaker’s film or series, I would just let it pass. But this was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show and it’s every actor’s dream to work with him. So, I was extremely disappointed that it didn’t work for me.”

However, destiny had something else in store for him. Two days before the shoot had to start, the guy who had to play Zorawar was asked to leave and he was asked to step in. God has his ways!
