Pocket Aces has teamed up with JTBC Studio to develop an Indian copy of the iconic Korean sitcom Something in The Rain. Pocket Aces is known for its four-season series Little Things, among other works.
With the growing popularity of Korean drama programmes in India, an Indian version of the iconic K-drama series Something in The Rain has been revealed.
Something In the Rain had a successful 16-episode run on the JTBC network when it launched in March 2018. The drama, which was also available with subtitles on Netflix, follows a career-driven lady who falls in love with her best friend’s younger brother when he returns after three years overseas. Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food is another name for the Jung Hae in and Son Ye Jin-starrer, where ‘noona’ is a phrase used to refer to a girl by a guy younger than her.
Pocket Aces, which is best known for its four-season series Little Things, has teamed up with JTBC Studio to develop an Indian copy of the popular show. “We have just confirmed the development of an Indian version of Something in the Rain with Pocket Aces, India’s leading digital entertainment business,” JTBC Studio said in a statement on Monday.
The K-fans drama’s flocked to social media to share their joy. “”OMG OMG OMG,” cried one Twitter user, while another added, “Woooohhhh that’s significant news… When I first saw Pretty Noona, I thought to myself, “This is very close to Indian family customs.””
Netflix recently stated that in India, watching of K-dramas surged by more than 370 percent in 2020 compared to 2019. “People are intrinsically culturally interested, captivated by tales from throughout the world,” a spokeswoman for the streaming giant noted. And a well-told narrative will resonate with audiences all across the world. The ever-increasing popularity of Korean stories and characters in India is proof of this. The language barrier has been decreased thanks to subtitles and dubs, and our members have found and loved real K material.”
In the past, Korean dramas have been remade in India. Shriya Saran, Emraan Hashmi, Ashutosh Rana, and Mrinalini Sharma feature in the 2007 Bollywood film Awarapan, which was inspired by the 2005 Korean film A Bittersweet Life.
