King Charles’ III and his wife Camilla’s coronation as King and Queen is scheduled to take place on the 6th of May. King Charles III’s coronation concert has performances and appearances from several movie and music stars. Our own Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor, who lives in London, with her husband Anand and son Vayu, will make an appearance on stage and she is ‘honored’ to do the same.
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and Dame Joan Collins, have also been announced to feature in the Coronation Concert. Adventure Bear Grylls and Sir Tom Jones, will also join them in pre-recorded sketches to celebrate the crowning. The other names include Pussycat Dolls and Kate Perry.
This will be Sonam’s first royal appearance and she will ‘appear on stage to deliver a spoken word performance to introduce the Commonwealth virtual choir.’
Buckingham Palace released a statement, “The service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. As previously announced, the Service will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
“Downtown Abbey” star Hugh Bonneville will host the proceedings which will be produced by BBC Studios. Kate Phillips, BBC director of Unscripted stated, “I’m delighted that even more world class names have joined the line-up for the Coronation Concert, broadcast live across the BBC. Against the stunning backdrop of Windsor Castle, it’s going to be a jam-packed evening of memorable moments, that their Majesties and everyone in UK can enjoy.”
On this ceremonious occasion, he will be presented with various hugely ornate golden orbs, sceptres, sword and a ring, which all form a part of the jewels of the Crown and symbolize the monarch’s power and authority.
