Squid Game was undoubtedly Netflix’s most popular program in 2021, and after being cryptic about whether or not there would be a sequel, the streaming service has revealed that the blockbuster series will return for season two, along with a trailer to whet your appetite.

Netflix hinted on Twitter, “A whole new round is coming.” After spending the greater part of a decade bringing the Korean drama series to life, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk issued a statement thanking viewers for helping the series succeed. Once he did, the program received widespread critical praise and a large audience eagerly anticipating its continuation. Netflix announced in January that a second season was in the works, with co-CEO Ted Sarandos declaring that “the Squid Game world has just begun.” Last month, Dong-hyuk provided a brief update, indicating that he only has a few pages worth of ideas for Season 2 and that even more games will be released.

While Dong-message hyuk’s was brief, he did reveal some information about who will be returning. “Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun) is back. He hinted, “The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) returns.” “The man in the ddakji suit (Gong Yoo) may be back.” The most intriguing hint comes at the conclusion, when Dong-hyuk claims the upcoming season will include Cheol-su, Young-lover hee’s and the series’ mascot. “Come back with us for a fresh round.”

Season two may only be the start of the series, according to the trailer. Dong-hyuk disclosed to KBS in Korea near the end of 2021 that he and Netflix have already began negotiating a third season. Given how popular the series has been after only one season, and how well other K-drama series on Netflix have been welcomed, it’s reasonable to assume that Squid Game will be there for a long time, regardless of Netflix’s current troubles.
