Himanshi Choudhry, who has featured in over twenty notable television shows including Kutumb, Bhabhi, Lavanya, Kareena Kareena, Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane and Tu Aashiqui among others, is now all set to enthral the audience with Inside Edge Season 3, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Six Suspects and Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa.
Anyone, and that means everybody, who has watched Inside Edge seasons 1 and 2 will surely remember the sultry Sudha Dhawan, Vikrant Dhawan’s (played by Vivek Oberoi) wife. Played by raven-haired beauty Himanshi Choudhry, the character is finally coming into its own. “The role has gotten stronger in season 3 where much is unveiled about the relationship between Sudha and Vikrant, which was kept in the shadows all along. There is frequent interaction between both of them,” reveals Himanshi. About Sudha’s USP, she avers that “Sudha is a headstrong woman and has so many cards under her sleeve that nobody knows about. Her conviction is her USP – she just knows what she wants and how to get it. Her sureness of what she does was exciting for me to tap into.”
Himanshi elaborates, “Sudha is the most glamourous role I have essayed till date. She is not somebody I am and I like playing such characters because I can explore sides and little traits of other people in them instead of playing a nice girl – and Sudha is not a nice girl.”
Both Sudha and she seem to have their prayers answered, because Himanshi, who was last seen in the series Out of Love, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, will also be part of his next, Six Suspects. Helmed by Ajay Devgn Productions, Six Suspects is the adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s novel into a web series. Also, in the pipeline is Dobaaraa, Hiamnshi’s first venture with Anurag Kashyap. “Dobaaraa is the first time I am collaborating with Anurag, who is a friend for over 15 years now. I play a central character in the movie and there are many firsts associated with it for me,” Himanshi smiles.
Having done truckloads of television shows, Himanshi holds shows like Lavanya and Kareena, Kareena closest to her heart. She fondly recalls, “Those two were the highlights of my professional career till then and I could play characters closer to who I was at that time. We worked really hard on slight budgets but both the teams were great and that’s how we made such great shows.”
So, what more is in the offing for Himanshi who is on cloud nine already? “There is so much to look forward to, but for now, I am happy to take it one day at a time!” she signs off.
