Shiddat’s Sunny Kaushal believes the narrative blends old-world love with current dating culture.
Shiddat, according to Sunny Kaushal, may be a love lesson for millennials. In the contemporary dating culture of right-swipes, break-ups, and ghosting, the actor is conscious that his emotional love storey with Radhika Madan may be incongruous. “We live in a ridiculously carefree era. When the opportunity to write a narrative about a young couple falling in love arose, I jumped at it. The actor, sounding like an old-fashioned romantic, adds that such a film is needed because it bridges the gap between the shifting concepts of love throughout generations.
The plot of Kunal Deshmukh’s film isn’t anything new: the two protagonists fall in love after meeting in Paris, but Madan’s character is engaged to someone else. However, Kaushal believes that the dramatic journeys of the characters make this love drama distinct from others. Most essential was figuring out why my character did what he did. Nowadays, clinging to someone is difficult. When things aren’t going our way, we as a generation want to move on. However, in this case, I was playing a man who is certain of his goals. It was a struggle to get into that frame of mind. However, because it was written so wonderfully on paper, the shift was quite painless.”
Despite its initial plans to be released in theatres, the film will now be available only on Disney+ Hotstar. The actor is unconcerned by the shift in media since, in his words, “I have only just begun out. It’s not as if I have a large following of admirers. Digital channels, in my opinion, have served as a godsend throughout this epidemic.
