‘Snowdrop,’ a Korean drama starring Jung Hae-in and Jisoo, will debut on the streaming site on February 9 with one episode released every week. Jisoo, of the popular K-pop group Black pink, makes her lead acting debut in the historical drama, which also includes Jung from “Something in the Rain.”
“When a blood-soaked guy (Jung) crashes into a women’s university dormitory in Seoul, Korea, Eun Yeongro (Jisoo) will go against her better judgement and risk being expelled in order to protect the man from his attackers and treat to his wounds.”
The synopsis for the 16-episode drama that aired its final episode in Korea on January 30 reads, “Unbeknownst to Yeong-ro, the man has a harrowing secret that threatens to put her friends’ and family’s safety in jeopardy, and the two young lovers will have to work together to overcome the obstacles.”
‘Snowdrop,’ which premiered on the Korean channel JTBC on December 18 and was accessible for streaming on Disney Plus in certain territories, examines the forbidden love of a young couple caught in the midst of political turbulence.
In ‘Snowdrop,’ Yeong-ro goes against her family and nation to protect the guy she loves, while Jung’s character risks everything to defend the single thing he loves more than his country, Yeong-ro.
“Snowdrop is a heartwarming fictitious melodrama about a young couple in love who, as the tale progresses, are forced to endure a terrible anguish that one only experiences once in a lifetime.” In a statement, the director stated, “I hope worldwide viewers find this touching series fascinating and intriguing as the two come to terms with their fate.”
The drama was written and directed by Yoo Hyun-mi and Jo Hyun-tak, the pair behind the 2018 thriller “Sky Castle.” Jo emphasized his eagerness for the series to be seen by international audiences.
