Television Actors talk about their first homes in Sapno ki Nagri – Mumbai city! These actors bravely embraced the transient nature of their living arrangements, from cramped apartments to shared spaces. Their rented houses became the cocoon from which their artistic metamorphosis emerged. It was a period of humble beginnings that would shape the narratives of their future success. As we peel back the layers of stardom, it becomes essential to acknowledge the actors who once called rented houses their haven. Some of these actors include Neha Joshi (Krishna Devi Vajpayee in Atal), Yogesh Tripathi (Daroga Happu Singh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Rohitashv Gour (Manmohan Tiwari in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain). Neha Joshi (Krishna Devi Vanpayee) from Atal shared, “During my initial days in Mumbai, I stayed with acquaintances as a paying guest at the residence of someone I affectionately called ‘Aaji.’ However, unforeseen circumstances forced me to leave that place. The subsequent year became the most challenging period of my life as I moved between four to five different houses. After departing from Aaji’s residence, I temporarily relocated to Thane, where I stayed with my cousin. However, the demanding travel schedule led me to depart from there. While doing my theatre, I met a director who offered me temporary accommodation. Following that, I moved to Prabhadevi, staying with another relative. Unfortunately, the owner of that place was unsupportive and critical of my acting profession, making it a challenging period. To cope with work uncertainty, I occasionally took a local bus to Nashik for a few days, resulting in missed acting opportunities. Later, my close friend Sharvari Lohokare came to my rescue, offering me accommodation at her relative’s place, where she resided with another roommate. Despite the tough times, I cherished her company during this struggling phase.”

Yogesh Tripathi (Daroga Happu Singh) from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan recalls, “My first accommodation in Mumbai was the railway station. I remember sleeping at various stations for almost four days, as I had nowhere else to go. Frustrated with the situation, I once said, ‘If I manage to settle in this city, I will at least buy four houses.’ I feel blessed that God heard me, and I proudly own these many properties in Mumbai. I arrived in Mumbai in 2005 with four friends, and initially, finding accommodation was challenging for us bachelors. Fortunately, we eventually secured a small room in Vashi. Without hesitation, we moved there, desperate for a roof over our heads. I used to commute from Vashi to Andheri every day, and it would take nearly 2-3 hours after finishing my 14 to 15-hour shifts. There were times when I missed the last train and had to spend the night at railway stations with no other means to return to Vashi. Rohitashv Gour (Manmohan Tiwari) from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai reminisces, “The first house where I stayed at the start of my career consisted of a modest room of 180-square-foot, shared with three fellow aspiring individuals trying to make a mark in the film industry. The space included a small kitchen and bathroom. I fondly recall paying a monthly rent of 1,500, which gradually increased. This humble abode, where I dwelled during my early years, holds a special place in my heart. It witnessed the camaraderie of struggling roommates striving to carve their paths in the film industry. Despite its limited dimensions, the house became a witness to my growth as an actor and as an individual. Throughout the ups and downs of my journey, that place was a constant companion. I was so deeply connected to it emotionally that I decided to make it my own after marriage. I bought it for 1.5 lakhs during the ’90s, and my first daughter was born in that house. The house is a testament to my struggles, triumphs, and the enduring memories of my formative years.”
