West side story’s lead actress Rachel Zegler, has got her hands in another big project. Currently the 20-year-old actress is all set to make her debut starring as Maria in Steven Spielberg directed West side story that will come out later this year in December. According to the reports, Rachel Zegler will be playing the role of Snow White in the upcoming adaptation of the animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
The film will be directed by the amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb with Marc Platt starting with production classic Disney film early in 2022. Talking about Rachel character as Snow White, director said, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts,” Webb told Deadline. “Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”
Snow white and Seven Dwarfs cartoon made its first mark in 1938 which was based on others Grimm fairytale. The cartoon was the first feature of Disney and was a super hit blockbuster.
Disney have been holding the remake of Snow White as they wanted the best song for its upcoming remake. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul the La La Land duo, The Greatest Showman pair will be writing new songs for the movie.
For several months the makers were looking after various talent that can fit in the role of Snow White until they found Rachel Zegler. The makers signed Rachel for the role because they were very impressed with her auditions and also with the footage of her from the West Side Story. Reportedly for the role of Maria in the West Side Story the actress beat around 30,000 actresses and gave an impressive Audition.
Rachel will also be featuring in Warner Bros/DC Films’ “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, co-starring Zachary Levi.
