On Thursday, the Academy’s official Instagram handle shared a clip of the song from Bajirao Mastani and Deepika dancing to ‘Deewani Mastani’. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal, the song features Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
Sharing the clip of Deepika, the Oscars’ official page captioned it, “Deepika Padukone performing Deewani Mastani from the movie Bajirao Mastani. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.”
Last year for the Oscars in March, Deepika introduced the RRR song Naatu Naatu. The song was performed at the 95th Academy Awards and also won.
Deepika’s fans have gone beserk with joy after seeing the post. One user wrote, “Bajirao Mastani is a masterpiece that will never get old. The main lead of the film and main dancer of this song- @deepikapadukone is the top heroine of Bollywood. Just look at her sublime grace, expressions. It’s easier to do over the top loud acting- but this nuanced restrained expressions, are much more difficult to perform. She did 1000 + twirls for this song wearing a costume which was 20 kg. Her iconic dance performances are ghoomar, nagada song dhol and mohe rang do laal- all these are Indian classical dance songs.”
Ranveer Singh’s reaction to the post was, “Mesmeric!” Another user wrote, “About the time the Academy recognized this cinematic masterpiece.”
