Salman Khan and AR Rahman are the two top talents in their respective areas right now. While the Dabangg actor has broken box office records with a string of hits, the composer has made the country proud with his internationally acclaimed songs. They’ve only worked together on one song, Yuvvraaj, but they made news a few years ago when the celebrity dubbed him an “average composer.” The aforementioned event took place in 2014, when the two industry heavyweights joined the platform with filmmaker Kabir Khan and political figure-lawyer Kapil Sibal.

Salman Khan and AR Rahman became embroiled in a feud when the Bollywood bhaijaan jokingly referred to the music composer as “ordinary.” The Radhe singer burst out laughing and attempted to shake hands with the artist. The music maestro remained still, his hands fastened to his pockets and a poker expression on his face.

The artist and his fans were offended by the statement about AR Rahman, and they began criticising the Antim star on social media. “Hamaare saath kab kaam karoge yaar?” Salman Khan asked Rahman afterwards to try to calm the tension down.

Although the music composer did not react to the superstar’s inquiries, when a journalist questioned why he didn’t answer the actor’s inquiry about writing music for his picture during the media interaction, the maestro answered, “He needs to do movies that I enjoy.”

The entire issue afterwards became a big source of controversy, although AR Rahman later addressed the matter by stating that it was all a joke.

When the Wanted actors film Jai Ho was released in 2014, Rahman and Salman Khan were entangled in a copyright dispute. According to rumours, the film’s title was a copyright violation since the music composer claimed the rights to the term owing to Dany Boyle’s 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire’s Academy Award-winning song of the same name.

When asked why he takes on less Bollywood productions, the composer recently told Radio Mirchi, “I don’t say no to good movies, but I believe there is a gang propagating certain false rumours owing to misunderstandings.” I’m making gloomy films because I’m up against a gang of people who are working against me without realising it.”
