Squid Game, Netflix’s newest offering, is a survival thriller that has been generating a lot of buzz.

This is a fictitious survival series in which the participants compete in what appear to be children’s games. The games, on the other hand, rapidly get violent, and the protagonists either win and survive or die trying. The show follows a group of heavily indebted South Koreans who are enticed to play the game in order to win a prize pool of 45 billion South Korean won.

Here are some interesting facts about the actor, who is one of the few non-Korean performers in the business.

  1. Anupam, a Delhi-born actor, began his singing and acting studies in 2006. He relocated to South Korea in 2010, when he received a scholarship to study at the Korea National University of Arts. He opted to stay in South Korea after finishing his education and appeared in a number of Korean drama series.
  2. In the 2014 feature film Ode to My Father, Anupam made his acting debut. He went on to play small roles in major K-dramas such as Descendants of the Sun (2016) and Hospital Playlist, most recently (2020).
  3. In order to completely absorb everything that the institute he was enrolled in had to offer, Anupam had to overcome a language barrier in a foreign nation. Anupam claimed it was difficult to overcome cultural barriers in an interview with Arirang News. “It’s challenging, and it’s really difficult. At the same time, I’ve always set goals for myself. Let’s take it a step farther now that I’ve come this far.”
  4. Before appearing in numerous Korean drama series, the 32-year-old actor appeared in a few theatre performances. The actor has been involved in these projects since his undergraduate days, according to K-pop map, and has even attended different film and theatre festivals around the country. His performance as Momo in a musical was highly appreciated by everybody, and it was a genuine tribute to his acting talents.

Despite cultural and language hurdles when he first started out, Anupam has built a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Anupam’s depiction of Ali’s role was so compelling that numerous admirers are now calling for ‘justice’ for the character.
