Huma Qureshi has given a dramatic and fantastic performance in Tarla, the film that’s receiving great reviews from all and sundry. Vidya Balan’s Neeyat also released the same day and when quizzed if this put extra pressure on Huma, she calmly praised Vidya and said she cannot wait to watch the film.

To give you a brief heads-up, Tarla is the life-story of chef Tarla Dalal, with a stellar cast- Huma Qureshi and Sharib Hashmi. The screenplay is commendable! On the other hand, Neeyat is a murder mystery and had a slow start.

Tarla is a biopic of the chef Tarla Dalal, who is famous for her culinary expertise. The movie is an ode to her contribution for delicious food, her dreams, aspirations, inspirations and family highs and lows. From being a ‘housewife’, she has made the life of EVERY Housewife easy with her cook-books.

One review for Neeyat, “Overall, Neeyat feels like a quickly assembled thriller that needed much more refining.” If you’ve seen Knives Out, this one looks familiar. With Vidya Balan as the lead, there’s something lacking. The first half lacks luster and is slow, a group of good actors playing their parts and you’re trying to make sense of the story. The second half picks up, the secrets of each member unwrap and it seems each of them had a motive to kill. Vidya Balan your fans might be a tad bit disappointed.

In a nutshell, watch Tarla for a feel-good delicious experience on ZEE5 and there’s not much you can complain about. As for Neeyat, there’s a cameo that might make you smile but the movie needed a better script and screenplay.
