There are always tell-tale indications and cautions when it comes to health difficulties. According to Dr. Niti Raizada, director, medical oncology and hemato oncology, Fortis Hospital, Richmond Road, Bangalore, there are certain “subtle indications and symptoms” in the case of ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer originates in the female organs that create eggs, known as the ovaries, she adds. With 46,000 new cases each year, this is India’s third most frequent cancer among women. “A cancer family history is a crucial element of the examination,” she explains.

According to the doctor, ovarian cancer symptoms include: –

  • Often asymptomatic
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Change in bowel habits
  • Indigestion or nausea
  • Fluid in abdomen known as ascites
  • Weight loss and generalized fatigue
  • Pelvic discomfort
  • Backache
  • Increased frequency of urination
  • Irregular menstruation, difficulty eating, and urinary issues are just a few signs of the later stages of ovarian cancer

The following are some suggestions from the doctor:

  1. Exercise and diet

A balanced diet and a weekly exercise routine are essential. Dietary strategies include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and vitamin D-rich foods. Working exercise for 30-40 minutes a day can lower your risk by up to 20%. Maintain an active way of life.

  1. Oral contraceptives

Women who use oral contraceptives had a 50% decreased chance of developing ovarian cancer, according to research, but they must first seek medical advice. There’s also a link between the length of time you eat and your health.

  1. A healthy way of life

Avoiding tobacco use and exposure can reduce your chance of ovarian cancer as well as a variety of other malignancies. Limiting your alcohol consumption is also a good idea.
