A wounded deer scurried through the main door of a hospital in Louisiana, US, and up an escalator before being apprehended.

A camera video posted online shows an animal entering Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge through an open entrance, startling employees and guests as it tripped on the slick floor and climbed an escalator to the second storey. In a statement, the hospital added, “Our staff members are constantly prepared for the unexpected.”

After reaching the second level, the deer was apprehended and restrained by many individuals, including a law enforcement officer. According to the Associated Press, it was then hoisted onto a medical bed and transported outside to a truck from the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department.

“Everyone on our team is constantly prepared for the unexpected.” The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department arrived quickly, assisting in the removal of the animal. “Patient care has not been disrupted, and the area is being carefully cleansed,” stated the hospital in a statement.

Before wandering into the hospital from nearby Ward Creek, wildlife authorities feared the deer had been injured by a car.

Unfortunately, due to its injuries, the animal had to be euthanized by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department. While one deer storey ended in tragedy, one from Kansas last year ended happily.

Firefighters in Edgerton, Kansas, rescued a deer from the icy waters of a frozen lake. The initial responses were deputy sheriffs who attempted to rescue the animal. They had to ultimately contact the fire department for a full-fledged rescue effort. The deer was roughly 50 feet from the coast in icy-cold water, and rescuers needed to act fast to secure the animal’s life. According to the property owner, the deer remained in the frigid water for more than 20 minutes before rescue came.
