On Irrfan Khan’s first death anniversary today, April 29, his son Babil Khan remembered him and penned a heartfelt note on his social media account. Irrfan Khan passed away last year after fighting a long battle with neuroendocrine tumor.
Babil took his Instagram account and penned a heartfelt note remembering the legacy of his father. He wrote, “Chemo burns you from the inside, so to find joy in the simple things, like building your own table to write your own journals. There is purity, I have not yet discovered. There is a legacy that has been concluded by my baba himself. A full stop.”
He further added about his bond with his father and wrote, “Nobody can ever replace him. Nobody will ever be able to. To the greatest best friend, companion, brother, father, I ever had and ever will have. I love you so much, for the rest of this chaos we are choosing to call life.”
Later he concluded his post by mentioning, “I miss you, more than all that shah-Jahan/Mumtaz stuff, I would have built a space monument that could have taken us to the furthest parts of a blackhole singularity you were always intrigued by, but I would have been there with you Baba, and we could have gone together, hand in hand. (Exploring the last mysteries).”
In a separate post, Babil shared a photo of a handwritten note by Irrfan Khan, dated June 25, while he was undergoing treatment in London. The photo is read as, “The period of realization of inner mechanism and the experience of magic which lays on the other side of the conditioned mind. The world of sensations and clear unburdened mind.”
The acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018, after which he flew to London for treatment. In February 2019, he returned to India for the shoot of his last film, Angrezi Medium and again went to London for his treatment. In September he came back to India after his treatment. In April 2020, he was hospitalized in a private hospital in Mumbai where he breathed his last on April 29, 2020.
Irrfan Khan is survived by his wife, Sutapa Sikdar and two sons Babil and Ayaan.
