BTS, the biggest artist to enter the music business and a Billboard Music Award winner and Guinness World Record holder, is the biggest act to step into the music scene. Despite being one of the most popular global phenomena, the K-pop group has faced severe prejudice on a variety of venues. Over the years, South Korean musicians have infused their songs with notes and spirits of love and acceptance.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in presented the group with diplomatic passports, allowing them to attend the United Nations General Assembly as Special Envoys for Future Generations and Culture. At the conference, the Bangtan Boys will talk about global problems such as climate change, women’s empowerment, inequality, and respect for diversity.

The band has joined the UN’s ‘Youth Today’ and ‘Global Goals’ social media campaign to combat racism and hate speech. The UN hopes that by launching these initiatives, it would be able to bring people together and organize individuals to fulfil their commitments and reach a wider audience.

BTS sent a tweet from their verified Twitter account on September 18. The seven-member group pledged to fight racism and hate speech, as well as urging the ARMY to join and choose a cause for which they will fight. “If we think there is hope, we will find a way,” the tweet stated. We oppose racial discrimination as well as hate speech. Choose your pledge to contribute to the achievement of the Global Goals. Let’s do this together,” she said, adding the hashtag #CallOutRacismHateSpeech to the mix.

Several times in the past, the Bangtan Boys’ following has criticized Western journalists, media, and the general public for their xenophobic attitude of the K-pop group.
