With their Permission to Dance on Stage internet performance in Seoul on Sunday evening, BTS once again demonstrated why they are such powerful performers. A month before their first post-pandemic offline concert in the United States, the septet thrilled the empty Olympic stadium with their fervor as they performed without an audience. The South Korean boy band, which has become a global sensation, did not disappoint its ARMY as they played some of their best singles, including I Need You from 2015 and Permission to Dance from this year.

‘ON,’ one of their most powerful songs, opened the show, which is a visual delight every time it is performed. Throughout the two-hour performance, BTS alternated between old and new songs. Dope, Fire, DNA, Black Swan, and Blue and Grey were featured in the setlist. ARMYs were astonished mid-concert when BTS seamlessly transitioned from Dynamite to Butter, their two Billboard No. 1 hits, with a never-before-seen dance break.

Member V, nicknamed Kim Taehyung, was unable to perform to his best potential due to calf muscle soreness. He sat through the dancing routines and only joined the group for the ones that were less physically demanding. He told the audience at the end of the show that he couldn’t be as thrilled as the other members since he couldn’t perform to his full potential. “This is humiliating.” I was great until yesterday, when I began to have knee discomfort on the day of the event. But don’t worry about me, ARMYs; I’ll take better care of myself so that this doesn’t happen again,” he guaranteed.

While speaking to the audience, the majority of the members expressed their regret for the absence of applauding, yelling supporters. The band had reserved the Olympic stadium in advance in the hopes of being able to attract a live crowd, but the pandemic circumstances prevented a large-scale public assembly.

Jungkook, the group’s main vocalist and youngest member, debuted yet another new hair color, this time a mint-blonde style, which sent fans into a frenzy. Suga wore his hair in a dark grey color, while RM wore his in a short undercut. J-Hope also changed his hair color from blonde to a dark, near-black shade. Jin, Jimin, and V all appeared to have natural hair colors.
