BTS, a Korean pop group, will shortly meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House to tackle anti-Asian hate crimes and commemorate AANHPI Heritage Month. The meeting’s specific dates have yet to be revealed.

“President Biden has previously stated his commitment to combating the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, and in May 2021, he signed the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law, which will provide law enforcement with resources to identify, investigate, and report hate crimes, as well as make hate crime information more accessible to the AA and NHPI communities.” The significance of diversity and inclusion, as well as BTS’ platform as youth ambassadors who transmit a message of optimism and happiness throughout the world, will be discussed by President Biden and BTS.”

BTS’s leader, RM, also wrote a post on the group’s upcoming trip to America. “That occurred,” the Weverse post roughly translates. But, because I’m travelling for a worthy cause, I’ll go and return in good shape. I’ve only ever seen the White House from a distance. But now we’re in it…”

BTS previously teamed with UNICEF on the anti-violence campaign Love Myself. They will play at the United Nations General Assembly in 2021. They pledged to support the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which include eradicating extreme poverty, protecting the environment, and attaining gender equality.

RM, the band’s frontman, had previously stated, “Every choice we make is the beginning of change, not the end.”

BTS has gained international acclaim for their self-produced music and activism, which includes publicly calling out anti-Asian bigotry, since its inception in 2013. The band has topped the Billboard Hot 100s list on many occasions and has received numerous honours. They were also nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Meanwhile, BTS will release their new album Proof on June 10th.
