Although it used to exclusively affect the elderly, joint discomfort is now frequently experienced by children as well. Children between the ages of 25 and 50 who lead sedentary, inactive lifestyles are more susceptible to joint-related illnesses. Joint pain can be reduced by engaging in regular exercise, eating a balanced diet, keeping a healthy weight, and using hot and cold treatment. Doctors reported that they had been keeping an eye on 4 to 5 patients between the ages of 35 and 50 every month.

Most elderly individuals seek therapy each year for joint pain and stiffness, according to senior health professionals from the civic health department. Along with people who have recovered from COVID-19, young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s are currently complaining of joint discomfort as a result of working from home and adhering to a high-fat and sugar diet. Swollen, red, and painful joints, ongoing discomfort, and fever are some of the symptoms. In their early 40s, 15–25% of young individuals experience joint discomfort.

Joint discomfort can be more likely among those who have had past joint injuries, usage and/or overuse of a muscle, arthritis, depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as people who are overweight and in generally poor health.

Osteoarthritis, which is observed when the cartilage, the protective cushion in between the bones, wears away, is a prevalent cause of joint discomfort, according to Dr. Rakesh Nair, consultant knee replacement surgeon at Zen Multispecialty Hospital, Chembur.
