British actor Paul Ritter passes away after battling brain tumor at the age of 54 at his residence on Monday evening (April 5) surrounded by his family. The actor is survived by his wife Polly and sons Frank and Noah. 

He was an admired stage actor, also known for long-running Channel4 comedy series Friday Night Dinner. He was featured in movies like, ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’, ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘The Eagle’and ‘Rambow’.

Apart from this, his small screen key roles included ‘Chernobyl’ aired on HBO in 2019. In the year 2009, he was nominated for the Tony Award for his performance in ‘The Norman Conquests’ and in 2006 he was nominated for an Olivier award for his ‘Coram Bay’.

Taking to twitter, the creator of the show Friday Night Dinner, Robert Popper shared a clip from ‘Friday Night Dinner’, remembering fond memories with the late actor as they shooting the scene together and tweeted, “Devastated at this terribly sad news. Paul was a lovely, wonderful human being. Kind, funny, super caring and the greatest actor I ever worked with x”.

Scottish actor, comedian and writer Sanjeev Kohli tweeted, “Paul Ritter was one of the most versatile and brilliant actors that have ever drawn breath. If Paul Ritter was in something, it made it good. This is horrendous news.”
