This year, India is the Official Country of Honour, a status that ensures the country’s presence as Focus Country at the Opening Night of “Marche du Film” with the spotlight on India, its cinema, culture, and heritage. A host of Indian celebrities, including Deepika Padukone, Aditi Roa Hydari, Pooja Hedge, Tamannah Bhatia, and many others continue to put their best glamour and grand looks and make a fashion statement at the grand event.
Deepika Padukone is serving as a jury member at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
In an exclusive interview with ‘Variety’, Deepika says, “It gives me goosebumps every single time I walk into the Palais and we leave-it gives me goosebumps as every single person on that seat is there to celebrate cinema.”
“I wasn’t entirely familiar with all of them, as is the case with all the jurors,” Deepika told IANS. “I think what all of us did was to actually read up on all our fellow jury members and watch some of their work. So, even when you deliberate, you understand where they are coming from, or what kind of cinema speaks to them.”
The actress was pleasantly surprised at the invite and adds, “They seemed so convinced about why they made the decision. And it makes me sit back and think maybe I have not given myself enough credit. If I have landed here today without even realizing it, I must be doing something right.”
Cannes is going to become a regular destination for Deepika and husband Ranveer.
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actress will next feature in Siddharth Anand’s Pathan starring Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham.
