Malala Yousafzai made her debut at the 95th Academy Awards this year along with her husband, Asser Malik. She was there to represent her Oscar nominated short documentary film, Stranger at The Gate, and looked elegant at the ceremony.
She donned a Ralph Lauren silver sequined gown with a hood, long sleeves and a cinched waist detail on one side. She wore dangling earrings and stiletto heels.
Host Jimmy Kimmel took to walking by the audience members and when he came by the 25 year old Nobel Peace Prize winner, he asked her about the infamous Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine episode that made headlines during the actors’ Don’t Worry Darling press tour.
The question was, “As the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history, I was wondering, do you think about Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?”
She promptly answered, “I only talk about peace.” This was the perfect reply.
Social media was flooded with this tasteless joke reminding the world of the difficulties Malala has faced and all that she has accomplished at this young age. One user wrote, “This girl doesn’t deserve a bullet to the face to hear about pointless pop culture drama.”
To take you back in the past, in the year 2012, while on a bus after taking an exam in Pakistan, Malala and two other girls were shot in the face by a Taliban in an assassination attempt in reaction to her activism. The 15-year old strong girl got better and has left no stone unturned to fight for women’s education all around the world.
“Treat people with kindness”, is the message this shining beauty has for the world.
