Actress Kangana Ranaut has been working very hard on her new project, ‘Emergency’. In this film, she will be seen in the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The first look is expected to be out tomorrow.

Kangana, has been assisted by David Malinowski of “The Darkest Hour” fame, for makeup and hairstyling. This movie is her second attempt at direction, the first being ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’.

Kangana responds, “Pleased to wear the director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured out no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments, I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league.

Kangana clarifies that the movie is not a biopic, but a political drama. She says, “It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.”

Apart from this movie, Kangana is also coming up with ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’ which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and

Avneet Kaur in the lead role. She will be seen in ‘Tejas’ in the role of an Air Force pilot.

Kangana strongly feels that Emergency was a watershed moment in the country’s political history, and she was keen on showcasing this period. The first look of the film will be unveiled on YouTube tomorrow, 14th July.
