Veteran actress Surekha Sikri passed away last month, leaving a vacuum in the industry. The three-time National Award winner was noted for her outstanding performance in different roles. The actress’s acting career included theatre, cinema, and television. Before her death, the veteran actress appeared in one last film, Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai, and reports say that it might get release next month.

The film will be releasing on streaming platform that is on ZEE5. Among other the film features Jassie Gill, Surbhi Jyoti, and Vijay Raaz. The film is based on a true story about a currency note which had words “Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai” written on it. The note also went viral and therefore makers decided to bring out the story. As per the makers of the film, “Kya Meri Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai, set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, is about a young man Sintoo who falls in love with Sonam Gupta, the town’s heartbeat and a girl way out of his league. The story unfolds when Sonam reciprocates his feelings, leaving Sintoo all the more confused. What follows is a comedy of errors where a line written on a note goes viral and starts a chain of events.”

Surekha Sikri, who was popularly known for her acting in television serieal Balika Vadhu, died at the age of 75 after suffering from illness for several months. She had experienced a brain stroke the previous year. On July 16, the actress took her last breath and died of heart arrest. Several of her coworkers have taken to social media throughout the years to remember her as an actress.

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, his co-star from film Badhaai Ho also took to his social media handle and wrote, “An impeccable performer. A consummate artiste. A legend. You’ll be missed Surekha ma’am. Thank you for the beautiful memories. #RIPSurekhaSikri.”
