Diwali excitement is building up with the festivities around the corner. On 8th September, it was announced that the Diwali release, Thank God, is all set to release on October 25th, which a Tuesday, contrary to expectations, where in the movie was expected to release on Friday, October 21.
An industry expert said, “The filmmakers feared that if the film gets bad word of mouth on Diwali, it will prevent the audiences from coming in full force the next day. Hence it was decided to release the film post Diwali day.”
To add more to the same, “Just like Diwali day, even the pre-Diwali days are not ideal for film business. Its time when people are busy with shopping, house cleaning or visiting their families in their hometowns. As a result, the collections of 2016 and 2019 Diwali releases were not significant for the first three days. Housefull 3, in fact, faced a lot of brickbats and a narrative was floated that it has not worked. The increase in collections post Diwali day silenced one and all.”
Thank God is an upcoming Hindi fantasy, comedy movie written and directed by Indra Kumar and produced by T-Series and Maruti International. The film features Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles.
Recently a poster of Ajay Devgn was released, where he was seen representing the modern avatar of Chitragupt, who as per Hindu mythology is the record keeper of human deeds. The actor is seen wearing an all-black suit and the poster has the caption, “This Diwali, Chitragupt is coming to play the game of life with you and your family! Get ready for the grand release of #ThankGod!”
