Neena Gupta is always commended for her acting skills and personality. The National Award-winning actress has hopped into spotlight and made the fans laugh, cry, sing with variants of her character. She has sparkled her acting in films like Badhaai Ho, Mulk and Veere Di Wedding. Her acting can’t be missed on OTT platforms, be it in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, or in Masaba. Gupta will be next seen in ZEE5’s Dial 100, and this time her character as grieving mother Seema Pallav, will be dissimilar to the ones that she has portrayed previously.

During a conversation with Mid-Day, Neena revealed that earlier Dial 100 was rejected by her because of its negative character, but her manager convinced him to her the narration. “When the casting person called, I was told it’s a negative character who wants to take revenge. I told him point-blank that I didn’t want to do it. I don’t like doing negative roles because once you do it, you get bracketed. But my manager convinced me to hear the narration, explaining how the character’s arc develops. That’s when I realised it’s not an all-black role, but one that has many shades.”

Further, Neena spoke that she precisely thought that why director Rensil D’Silva and co-maker Siddharth P Malhotra has taken her into the consideration for a role in the crime thriller Dial 100. She spoke that despite having three different ideas to make her approach in the role as a grieving mother, it was director Rensil who assisted her differently, and gave her character a rhythm.  “How do you play such a role without the risk of going over-the-top? I had figured three ways of playing the character, but Rensil asked me to approach it in a totally different way. He gave me the rhythm of the character,” said the actress.

ZEE5’s Dial 100 will mark its release on August 6th.
