On September 23, the American streaming service Netflix will start showing the biographical drama film Blonde, which was written and directed by Andrew Dominik. Ana de Armas portrays Marilyn Monroe in this fictionalized portrayal of her life, which is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ historical fiction novel Blonde from 2000. In supporting roles are Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, and Julianne Nicholson.

According to senior executives at some of these platforms, American movies, TV series, and programming—including their dubbed versions—are becoming increasingly popular on over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services, accounting for up to 30% of all viewers.

Young urban Indians in major cities are eager consumers of such foreign content, while those in small villages gain from their dubbed versions in both Hindi and regional languages.

Extraction and The Kissing Booth from Netflix as well as The Boys, The Tomorrow War, Wonder Woman, and Parasite from Amazon have all achieved success in Hindi and Tamil. Walt Disney has also chosen to reach out to smaller towns by making Disney+ content (including Marvel) accessible even on its more affordable price plans in India.

Indians were first exposed to foreign content through a small number of specialized, foreign-language TV stations and pirate websites online, but OTT services have made accessing it easier.

Due to the suspension of operations in Russia, slow growth, increased competition, and consumer account sharing, Netflix lost 200,000 customers worldwide in the three months ending in March.

India, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan, according to the business, were all experiencing “excellent growth.” Compared to 2.6 million a quarter earlier, the Asia Pacific area added 1.09 million paying members in the last three months.

In order to attract more customers and increase penetration, Netflix cut prices in India by 18–60% in December. Previously available for 199 per month, its mobile-only package is now available for 149. The basic package, which grants access to all material on a single device, costs $99 instead of $499.
