Anita Raaj, who had to leave Choti Sardarni and her character of Kulwant Singh when the famous TV drama went on hiatus for a generation, has returned to the show. The actress has returned to the set to play Kulwant again. She just joined TV and expressed how much she missed her role and the rest of the crew.
“More than anybody else, I’ve missed portraying Kulwant Kaur and the programme. The role is one of my favourites, and I’m delighted to hear that the public missed me as well “she said
Anita Raaj also discussed her particular relationship with Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who currently portrays Seher in the programme. “The moment Nimrit and I met on the sets, we did not leave each other for 10 minutes,” she said, adding that they stayed in touch even during her vacation from the programme. We were inextricably linked. Even though I wasn’t on the programme for the last two months, I kept in touch with Nimrit. The relationship is unbreakable, and it will remain so indefinitely. She was really raw and new when she first joined the programme, and she has since blossomed into a fantastic performer. She’s come a long way as an actor.
I’ve always kept in touch with her, and I hope that the mother-daughter relationship that people see onscreen will continue to exist. “I’m excited to collaborate with Sehar,” the actress remarked.
“I was born and raised in Mumbai, but we never spoke Punjabi in our family,” she says. “Having said that, when you are Punjabi, you develop that accent instantly. Luckily, the actors who played my sons Bittu and Rana, Avinash Rekhi, are all Punjabi.” To get that phrase just right, I had a lot of support from my performers. Because I’ve always lived in Mumbai, I was unaware of the correct accent. I can communicate in Punjabi, but they all assisted me. Dolly Minhas ji, who has also worked in Punjabi films, aided me. They are from Punjab’s heartland, and they aided me. Anita Raaj remarked, “The credit belongs to my onscreen kids.”
