Rahul Kohli, the child actor of India’s official entry to the Oscars for 2023 has passed away. The 15-year-old was a part of the 6 child actors in the movie that has been selected for the 95th Academy awards for the best international film category.
The late actor’ s father Ramu Kohli told TOI, “On Sunday, October 2, he had his breakfast and then after repeated bouts of fever in the following hours, Rahul vomited blood thrice and just like that my child was no more. Our family is devasted. But we will watch his ‘last film show’ together on the release day on October 14 after we perform his final purification rituals.”
Chhello Show is a coming-of-age drama that shares the life of a 9-year-old who loves cinema and how he bribes his way into a movie place and spends his summer vacation watching movies from the projection booth. The cast includes Rahul Kohli, Dipen Raval, Richa Meena, Vikas Batra, Bhavin Rabri and Bhavesh Shrimali.
Ramu, the boy’s father, drives an auto for his living. The 15-year-old child star was battling with cancer and his father had to sell his auto to pay for Rahul’s treatment. However, when the crew found out, they helped him buy the auto back.
The movie is all set to release today on14th October 2023. This movie premiered at the 2021 edition of the New York set Tribeca film festival which has Robert De Niro as its founders.
