Nowadays most movies can be seen on OTT platforms. Ever since the rise of viewership on digital platforms, the trend of web series has increased. MX Player’s web series ‘Shiksha Mandal’ gives us an insight about the difficulties in education field. This series makes a serious attempt to expose corruption, fraud and criminal conspiracies that are affecting the vulnerable student population of the nation in today’s time and age.

This series has been released on 15th September and is directed by Syed Ahmed Afzal and the lead roles are played by Pawan Raj Malhotra, Rajendra Sethi, Iram Badar Khan, Gulshan Devaiah.

This show I strongly feel has been inspired by the infamous Vyapam education scam that took our nation by storm a few years ago. Shiksha Mandal, set-in present-day Madhya Pradesh, follows Aditya who runs a coaching institute in Bhopal and his sister goes missing and there seems to be a connect in his disappearance and the examination scam. The Special Task Force lead by Anuradha assists him but a nexus of politicians and criminals obstruct the search. The plot is promising but the series lacks finesse.

The writing and characters are repetitive and lack imagination. The actors try their level best to redeem the show but not much could be done to salvage the show. I don’t think its worth a bingewatch too. This series fails the test of good storytelling despite its resources. The tacky tone, the bizarre background and predictable storyline makes Jack feel like a dull boy. So only if you have a lot of time to SPARE, then watch it else consider it a bad parody.
