In many ways, Prey is a throwback to Hollywood in the 1980s. First off, it came out in India two months after it debuted internationally (who even does that in the 2020s? ), and secondly, it’s a straightforward survival drama/monster movie mashup like the ones the 1980s were famous for. However, Prey is extremely, really fantastic. I could even be sacrilegious and declare that it is superior to all previous Predator movies. Yes, including the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring one. But allow me to explain why before you get the pitchforks out.

Prey, a Predator prequel set in early 1700s America, tells the story of a Predator’s arrival in the country and its encounters with the Comanche tribe and some French voyageurs. It depicts how a Comanche woman named Naru (Amber Midthunder) utilizes her training, guts, and resourcefulness to outwit this potent hunter, keeping true to the idea of the original Predator movie.

Four Predator movies and two somewhat forgettable Alien series crossovers were released between 1987 and 2018 combined. None, with the exception of the first Predator (1987), garnered favorable reviews from both reviewers and audiences. The majority of it was caused by the way these movies attempted to twist the Predator idea and put it in other contexts, including urban, the year 2100, an extraterrestrial ship, and other things. However, a Predator’s charm is that his dread is amplified in the wild. The most effective hunter in the cosmos, after all, is it. To stalk his victim, Prey needs the forest, and you should give him that.

Prey is a good watch, and at fewer than 100 minutes, it is also concise. A Predator sequel that comprehends the notion is what fans have been clamoring for for years. Can we just stop whining about the finer points and purported gender agendas (whatever that means) now that we have it and just enjoying this fantastic action movie? Prey was initially released in the US in August, then on October 7 it was eventually launched in India on Disney+ Hotstar.
