Tamil actor Vivek, 59, breathed his last today morning (April 17) at SIMS Hospital in Chennai. The actor suffered a massive cardiac arrest on April 16. The actor’s mortal remains are kept at his home for the public homage.
The actor is survived by his wife Arulselvi and two daughters Amritha Nandini and Tejaswini.
Vivek was not only an actor but also was a comedian, television personality, playback singer and a social activist. In the year 2009, Vivek was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contribution to the arts by the government of India.
South Superstar Rajinikanth took to twitter to pay his last respects to his friend Vivek. He tweeted in tamil which is loosely read as, “It pains me to hear about the demise of my dear friend Vivek. My unforgettable days with him were when we worked together in Sivaji. My heartfelt condolences to Vivek’s family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Musician and writer AR Rahman took to twitter to pay his last respects, he wrote, “@Actor_Vivek can’t believe you’ve left us.. May you rest in peace.. .you’ve entertained us for decades.. your legacy will stay with us.”
“What a great loss. Shocked and saddened.. #RIPVivekSir,” tweeted Samantha Akkineni.
Other celebrities like Genelia Deshmukh, Sathish, Karthik Kumar and several other actors paid tribute to the late actor.
Vivek’s funeral will be held today in the evening.
