The King’s Man, a Hollywood period action spy thriller, will be released in theatres on December 31. The third instalment in the Kingsman film series, directed by Matthew Vaughn and based on Mark Miller and Dave Gibbons’ comic book The Secret Service, acts as a prelude to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Bruhl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance are among the cast members.

With successes like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Marvel’s Eternals, Hollywood is off to a terrific start in India following the second covid wave. The latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, had a promising start to recovery for the theatrical sector in the Christmas period, with opening weekend collections of roughly 11.5-8 crore in India. West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg, will be released on December 10th, while Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released on December 17th.

The American film industry appears to be on the verge of making a comeback in theatres. Walt Disney said in October that the remainder of its 2021 slate will have exclusive theatrical releases, despite the fact that it has used hybrid models for recent films, releasing them in theatres and on OTT at the same time.

With a combination of blockbuster superhero movies and lesser budget, gentler pictures, Hollywood grossed around Rs. 1,225 crores in India in 2019, which was more than the 900 crore-950 crore it made in 2018. Apart from extensive marketing and localization initiatives by Hollywood studios, dubbing these films in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu has greatly increased their appeal in the nation. With fewer local films in theatres shortly after reopening, the first round of Hollywood titles aided the exhibition business’s comeback, according to film industry analysts.
