Kohraa actually means fog and in this series, the mystery around the death of an NRI groom and his missing friend, is the fog that the police need to clear. A slow but gritty story that is shot in the lands of Punjab.

I would like to lend a loud applause to director Ravinder Jha and the lead star-cast, Suvinder Vicky, Barun Sobti and the others. Its an excellent and a very realistic show.

The story revolves around family politics, buried shame, ego, the overwhelming patriarchy, childhood trauma and sexual preferences and the violence that prevails.

Set in the deep underbelly of rural Punjab, the series starts off with a murder in the fields. The senior cop Suvinder Vicky and his assistant Barun Sobti, delve deep into the mystery, the media hounds the village and the plot thickens with every revelation.

Parallel motives and theories for the murder emerge. The family secrets and hostility over land, plays its part and each character has its own demons. Overall, a fantastic show that had all my attention even till the end credits played on.

Karan Johar took to Instagram and wrote, “Sometimes the fog never lifts and leaves everything gloomy and fake and even darker, much like the human personality. Kohraa, the latest Netflix-in drop is arguably the best series I have seen since Trial by Fire.” What starts off as a murder procedural goes onto scratch the surface of parental patriarchy and entitlement, the psychology of disturbed childhood, a woman’s right to passion and compassion and dealing with your inner demons. The brilliantly written show is a master class in character development and the balance of that with intrigue… a tightrope that #sudipsharma #gunjitchopra # diggisissodia walk without a false note…brilliance..i was blown away by the performances……”

I second Karan Johar, you just cannot miss this one, streaming on Netflix!
