Rough diamonds is the saga of one of the richest families of Belgium. After the family’s youngest son Yanki dies, his brother Noah returns home to Antwerp. Written by Yuval Yefet of the Fauda series fame and co-created by director Rotem Shamir, this is the story of how a successful family is on the brink of a collapse.
The prodigal son returns to attend the funeral of his brother who committed suicide. He gets pulled into the struggling business of being dealers of rough diamonds. The family are orthodox Jewish and it’s interesting to watch the traditions and customs of their lives. Noah returns to a fractured family who need his help to rescue them from the mess they are in.
The series gave me Godfather vibes where in family, feud, mafia, legacy and deceit all make an intriguing cocktail for a binge watch series. The intense family drama had me glued.
The religious sentiments and customs are the heart of Jewish community. This suspenseful drama deals with estranged relationships, women’s role in business, the dynamics of community and family secrets along with diamond trade.
