From Joan of Arc to Oprah, the world is full of strong women and when women get together for a common cause, they become an unstoppable force. FICCI FLO, Ludhiana, organized a spectacular fashion show, to honor the breast cancer survivors and titled it, “The Pink Lotus.”
The Lotus, as we all know, is a sacred flower and it stands for strength and purity. Arising from the muddy waters, yet it has no stains and is untouched by its surrounding. Lotus flowers, symbolize calmness and positivity and true to its name, such was the event I witnessed, that was arranged by Ankita Gupta (Chairperson) and her abled team.
In the year 2014, the past chairpersons, Mrs. Monica Choudary, Mrs. Divya Oswal and Mrs. Sangeeta Jain had taken the initiative to bring about awareness towards breast cancer and a dazzling fashion show was organized in association with Lakme Salon and Orra, for sensitizing the masses regarding breast cancer and to salute the undaunting spirit of the cancer warriors.
Taking the legacy forward, the present chairperson, Ankita Gupta with her team, had 40 FLO members walk the ramp with spectacular clothes provided by Nooran, the multi designer store and jewels, by Kundan Jewels. The highlight of the show, was none other than our favorite Bollywood star, Karishma Kapoor, who started her career at the young age of 17 and she looked gorgeous at the show. Encouraging the 400 women attending the event, she said that ‘MOMS’ are the epitome of multitasking and women can strike a great balance between work and home.
Indeed, an outstanding event, to salute the outstanding cancer warriors. We salute your positivity and resilience!!
