The South Korean boy band BTS will perform in front of a large audience to support Busan’s quest to host the 2030 World Expo.

This morning in the Busan Metropolitan City Hall, the chairman and CEO of HYBE, Bang Si-Hyuk, and the mayor, Park Heong-joon, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support Busan’s candidacy for the World Expo 2030. BTS will host the Global Busan Concert as part of the agreement in an endeavour to lure the World Expo 2030 to Busan.

The agreement comprises collaborative efforts to help Busan win the right to host. BTS would “serve as the ambassadors, stage a worldwide concert in Busan, organize events to appeal to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) members; and personally explain the proposed location for the BIE Enquiry Missions,” according to the plan. Additionally, they are required to “act as ambassadors during South Korea’s presentation session, be there on voting day to promote the bid, supply images and films for the city’s digital campaigns, and disseminate promotional videos via official social media channels.”

Chairman Bang stated, “BTS and HYBE will try our utmost to successfully deliver the World Expo to Busan given the importance of its proposal as a nation to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan. This will be a fantastic chance to support the growth of K-Culture and its regional pop cultures in Busan.

He said that I would want to convey my heartfelt gratitude to the BTS and HYBE members for agreeing to serve as the ambassadors of the World Expo 2030 in Busan, Mayor Park remarked. Our attempts to bring the World Expo to Busan will be greatly aided by the group’s cooperation as ambassadors.
