Charismatic and charming are the words that come to my mind after meeting Vidya Balan at an event organized by FICCI FLO Ludhiana under the able chairmanship of Mrs. Neha Gupta.

She first came to Punjab in 2011 to promote her film Dirty Picture and Punjab holds a special place in her heart. She states, “My husband Sidharth Roy Kapur is a Punjabi, and the people here are always special. I feel so much warmth in everyone here, the women are the most beautiful and most amazing.”

Going on, she further added, “Women have a lot of strength, they have been leaving men far behind with their endeavors. I believe nothing is impossible.”

Vidya Balan held the audience captivated during an-hour long interaction on the 10th of January. All dressed to kill in a black saree, she said, “A saree embraces you. It tells you how beautiful you are.” She emphasized on listening to the ‘inner voice’ in you and believing in yourself. The best takeaway from the talk was being ‘selectively deaf’, that no matter how much you try, you can’t impress everyone and there will always be people yearning for more from you.

She asserted that every woman must love and accept her body and be grateful for it. Talking about her journey in the Bollywood industry, “The journey has not been easy but definitely easier than I thought.”

Winner of the prestigious Padma Shri Award, the event concluded with Vidya dancing to the song ‘Oo Lala’ and the crowd applauded endlessly for her.
